3 Ways to Warm Up Your Winter Home
When the temperatures drop, you may experience a slight panic in the air. Summer days are long gone and it’s time to spend more time indoors out of reach from the grasp of winter’s weather. Here are three ways you can use what you have to create a warm and comfy environment in your own home to get you through the long days of winter.
Get Cozy
A wide range of textiles can make all the difference! Change up the texture. Throw a furry rug atop a cold hardwood or tile floor. Drape a warm, thick blanket over the couch. Adorn your bed with a few extra fluffy pillows and swap out your summer bedding for warm flannels and wools. Cover your windows with heavy drapery to keep the warm air inside.
Lighten Up
Add some candles around your room to evoke a warm glow. It’s said that safely adding 20 candles to a room can warm it up. Use warm, holiday scents to set the mood. Try at your own risk! If you have a fireplace, use it! The crackling sounds of the glowing firewood add to the comforting ambience. Be sure to get your fireplace inspected annually!
Create a Hot Drink Station
Find a corner in your house, grab a bar cart, and create your new hot beverage station! Plug in a Keurig, espresso maker, or hot water kettle. Fill some baskets with your favorite coffees, teas, and hot chocolates. Place a bowl of mini marshmallows and dunk-able cookies atop a pile of books. Add sticks of honey and decorative plants. Hang some mugs and, voila! You have your instant cup of warm cheer.
